The ‘Blue Planet’ series of watches by CIGA Design won the Challenge Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) in 2021. This made CIGA Design the first Chinese watch company to win the world’s top watch award.

With 17 international design awards, the brand has set a record for the most design awards ever given to a Chinese wristwatch. It has won nine out of thirteen Red Dot Design Awards in the national category. It is also the only company in the country to have won both the Red Dot Grand Prix and the iF Design Gold Award. In 2019, CIGA Design was nominated for the GPHG, which is known as the Oscar of watches. This is the first time that a Chinese brand has been nominated for this award. In 2021, the brand was again chosen as one of the top three watch and jewelry brands in Germany’s iF 2017–2021 competition, along with Apple and BVLGARI, because of its innovative design.

The Blue Planet Collection Ceremony took place at the Museum of Art and History (Musée d’Art et d’Histoire, MAH) in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 29, 2022. This is thought to be the first Chinese watch brand that the museum will show. The MAH and CIGA Design put on this ceremony to thank the donors.

The MAH is one of Switzerland’s biggest and most important museums. It has over 7,000 pieces of art from prehistoric times to the present day from Europe, Africa, and Asia. The collection and exhibition have a strong reputation in Switzerland because they are unique in that they come from different fields.
